Beyond the Japadog and other street meat, Vancouver has opened up its streets to many more food options. Now you don’t have to go to a market to get these culinary treats on wheels. Since July, new vendors have popped up on several of Vancouver’s streets offering dim sum, burritos, southern bbq, meat skewers, donairs, noodles, falafels, pizza and more. This pilot project saw 800 applications of which only 17 lucky winners were selected in a lottery. The pilot project ends in April 2011 when Vancouver City Council will decide whether to make it a staple in the city.
